Still used today for many of the same reasons, the wet heat your body absorbs while in a sauna is said to promote healing and improve both physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

This ancient treatment is also designed to induce sweating, which provides numerous benefits, from pain relief to better blood circulation. Using moist heat in a closed off capsule, the temperature and humidity of the air is achieved by pumping in steam.

Is Hydrotherapy for Me

So how does all of this heat really benefit your health? By shutting yourself in a capsule filled with heat or steam, your body naturally warms up which encourages you to perspire. One by one your pores begin to open, which in turn prompts your body to start excreting metabolic waste via small beads of sweat - it�s estimated that as much as 30% of bodily waste can be eliminated by way of perspiration.

Infrared saunas use infrared lamps and electromagnetic magic to create warmth. The process allows infrared saunas to operate at a lower temperature while still providing therapeutic benefits.

Because you head remains outside of the capsule, the steam is able to be kept at a much higher temperature than usual steam rooms. As well being a great way to help flush out toxins from the body, this also helps to stimulate muscle by relaxing your joints and allowing them to repair and recover more quickly, and accelerates the expulsion of toxins from your skin.

Private Treatment

On arrival for your treatment a same gender Skinsense clinician will explain the operation of the capsule to you, and make sure you are comfortable before leaving you to enjoy your hydrotherapy in private. If at any time during your private session you would like some assistance, or even just to have the supplied chilled drinking water refreshed, you just need press the bell button to request assistance from your clinician.

Good To Know

Steam rooms and saunas are an integral part of hydrotherapeutic treatments, and can be used every alternate day for all round health and wellness.

The Steam and sauna capsule at Skinsense is only able to be occupied by one person at a time. You do however have exclusive use of the hydrotherapy treatment room for each hour long hydrotherapy session so are most welcome to bring a friend, or to even share your session with a friend or partner.

Although you may wear underwear, bathers or any other attire inside the steam and sauna capsule it is more beneficial and hygienic to be naked. As you have exclusive use of the hydrotherapy treatment room your privacy is assured and nobody else will see your nakedness. The capsule is sterilised between each use so you need not have any concerns in that regard.

You are also able to have your arms / hands outside of the capsule during your treatment enabling you to enjoy some reading, play a game or watch a movie on your phone should you not prefer to enjoy moment for a relaxing snooze.
