Hair Loss Prevention & Restoration
Skinsense Vanuatu offers effective chemical free PRP and PDRN hair loss prevention and restoration treatments to both men and women.
The method of treatment we offer uses platelet rich plasma (PRP) produced using your own blood, alternatively organic PDRN stem cells, that are combined with a specific percentage of organic Biotin, a protein formed naturally by the human body.
The treatment returns excellent results in preventing hair loss, restoring hair that is on the verge of dying back to thick healthy hair as well as dramatically speeding up hair regrowth in patients who have experienced hair loss due to cancer treatments.
The timeous use of this PRP / PDRN treatment has shown to be one of the most effective and economical treatments for reversing active androgenetic alopecia, a common condition that causes hair follicles to shrink and the hair to subsequently fall out.
Unfortunately once the hair is gone (ie: the scalp is hairless and shiny) it is gone forever and other than for hair transplant treatments there is nothing you are able to do that will make it grow back again. This makes timeously taking advantage of the hair loss prevention treatment Skinsense offers really important.
Does PRP / PDRN Really Work to Prevent Hair Loss
Here is an overview and links to some positive results from scientific research on PRP / PDRN and hair loss that correlate with the very positive results Skinsense patients have, and are enjoying from this treatment:-
A 2014 study of 11 people with androgenic alopecia found that injecting 2 to 3 cubic centimeters of PRP into the scalp every 2 weeks for 3 months could increase the average number of follicles from 71 to 93 units. This study is too small to be conclusive, but it shows that PRP may be able to help increase the number of hair follicles that can actively support healthy hair.
A 2015 study of 10 people receiving PRP injections every 2 to 3 weeks for 3 months showed improvements in the number of hairs, the thickness of those hairs, and the strength of the hair roots. This study helps provide extra support to the findings of other PRP and hair loss studies. But 10 people is still too small a sample size to be conclusive.
A 2019 study compared two groups of people using different hair treatments for 6 months. One group of 20 used minoxidil (Rogaine), and the other group of 20 using PRP injections. Thirty people finished the study and results showed that PRP performed much better for hair loss than Rogaine. But the study also found that your level of platelets can affect how well your own plasma works for hair loss. A lower level of blood platelets may mean that PRP isnt as effective for you in which instance PDRN is able be used.
How Many Treatments are Required
To achieve the desired result you should expect an initial course of 4 - 6 monthly treatments followed by bi-annual top up maintenance. Your SkinSense clinician will discuss and advise you on the best plan of action based on your individual goals and budget.
How Does It Work
Historically, doctors have been able to stall or reverse hair loss by prescribing medicine or performing a hair transplant procedure, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Yet many of these options come with negative side effects, such as sexual dysfunction, an itchy scalp, or a long recovery period. Minimal side effects are one reason a new treatment called platelet-rich plasma therapy (also known as PRP or PDRN) has been growing in popularity.
During a PRP session, a technician draws blood, usually from a patient's arm. He or she will then spin the blood to extract plasma. The clinician injects the plasma into areas on the scalp affected by hair loss is usually about 15 to 20 injections per PRP session.
Though it sounds painful, there are not any side effects to worry about. You may experience some mild soreness where the injections took place, but you should be able to bounce back post-appointment.
PRP does not deliver results immediately, so you should not expect to see a full head of hair overnight. You will likely need three to five more monthly sessions followed by an appointment four to six months later, and then yearly maintenance sessions after that.
PRP / PDRN has been shown to help both men and women, mainly those with androgenetic alopecia, which is known among men as male-pattern baldness and among women for leading to thin hair all over the head.
The exact schedule of your treatment plan will depend on a few factors, including the amount of hair loss you are dealing with, as well as your age, hormones, and genetic makeup. You'll likely start seeing visible regrowth before your third and fourth appointment.
PRP / PDRN Hair Loss Treatment Side Effects
Although the PRP used in the treatment is derived from your own blood, and there is zero chance of rejection, as with any aesthetic procedure PRP hair loss prevention treatments are not entirely without risk.
The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see slight redness or have slight bruising around some of the the injection areas for a day or two afterward.
You may also not be an ideal candidate for PRP hair loss treatment if you:
Are pregnant
Have certain skin diseases, such as psoriasis or eczema
Have open wounds or scalp acne
Have had radiation therapy recently
Although the treatment is relatively painless patients with a low pain threshold may choose to apply a numbing cream to their scalp prior to the injections
In any event the entire procedure will be properly explained, and a treatment plan will be proposed to you, prior to any treatment commencing.
